Meet the Usual Suspects – Buffalo Skiver
Over the years, we at Honeydew Health have started to notice absence patterns that are all too familiar in many organisations. To bring them to your attention, we have characterised these Usual Suspects, that we feel everybody can relate to.
Today, we would like to formally introduce them to our followers through the means of an animation that we’ve put together. Welcome to the Usual Suspects of absence management.
Every week for the next 5 weeks we will be introducing you to one of the Usual Suspects to explain why they are so common in the workplace and how our absence and attendance management software, Engage, can help you to combat their behaviour.
First of the Usual Suspects in line is Buffalo Skiver
Dodging every disciplinary bullet, Buffalo Skiver can recite the absence policies in his sleep. His time off is regular but he makes sure he doesn’t trip any triggers. He knows everybody else’s schedules by heart because that means he can leave the office early, undetected. Answering emails from the train on Mon morning gives him 40 winks more in bed whilst maintaining the illusion of ‘hardworking Buff’.
Completely dis-engaged, he has become highly skilled in delegation and avoids responsibility at all cost. If only he could apply same creativity and dedication to his job, he might become a star employee. Do you recognise a Buffalo Skiver in your organisation?
By implementing a system such as Engage, several sets of absence triggers can be implemented at once without you having to painstakingly monitor each employees’ absence history. They can be set at the click of a button and the system will then automatically send notifications alerting managers to those attendance patterns you wish to avoid.
There are many positives in setting several sets of triggers as, all too often, we see employees fall ‘under the radar’ and accrue quite a damaging absence profile without tripping any triggers. If you need help deciding on your absence triggers, we have also written this ‘how to’ blog giving you the best advice to aid your decision making.
If you want to start combatting the Usual Suspects of absence and attendance management in your organisation, we are currently offering a free 30-day trial of Engage – so go ahead and see how much time and effort we can save you.
