Santa run completed – thanks for your support!
On Saturday 7th December, Sandy completed her 5k Santa run in aid of a local hospice charity – Tapping House, Norfolk and she has been overwhelmed with the support.
The aim of the Santa run was to raise money to complete a new hospice building in Hillingdon, Norfolk so those in need of respite and hospice care did not have to travel to Norwich or Cambridge. Over 100 runners took part in the event and raised over £3k (although the exact total is not yet clear) towards the new building which is a great amount of money for a challenge that took most no more than 45 minutes of their weekend.
When a whole town comes together to have fun and support a local charity, it’s an amazing thing to be a part of, and as an attendance management company, we couldn’t help but think how businesses that do not incorporate charity work as part of their CSR, really are missing a trick!
The Santa run was cold, miserable after the second mile and actually quite enduring in the cold air but the mixture of participants made it worthwhile and really great fun. Kids of all ages donned Santa Onesies to run with their parents for support and some even had ‘Santa’s helpers’ dogs with them. The sight of 100 Santas really brightened up the day of those walking through the park at the same time and quite a crowd was attracted which was really great for morale.
Sandy’s fundraising aim was to raise around £150 given the relatively short notice. £100 would pay for at least one person’s carer support group for a whole year which could change someone’s life. So far, Sandy’s donations have amounted to £85. If we could just raise the last little bit, it would mean that this run has helped one person in the community. Knowing that you have contributed to the support of one person in their time of need is enough to make anyone feel Christmassy!
If you’d like to contribute to this worthy cause, please see Sandy’s donation page. It would be great to see the last little bit raised to achieve the target. Every little bit really does help!
Once again, thanks for your support and we hope that all of our readers have a healthy and happy Christmas!
